Declaration Officer- Tanzania

YOUR ROLE

The role will be responsible for proper declaration of the HS Code as per Customs guidelines in coordination with the respective Clients/Customers allocated

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

• Verify all customs related documents for declaration, Study / screen attached documents forwarded by the Customer Service Officer through email or hard copies to ensure that we have all the required documents for clearance and with correct information.
• Inform/highlight to Customer Service Officer about list of Missing documents or details that need to be amended.
• Advise Customer Service Officer on clearance procedure and taxes estimate before importation in case of any inquiry from client .
• Provide Tax draft assessment for Duty Taxes whenever required by the client
• Provide Tax draft assessment for pre funding and Tax exemption procedures
• Check and confirm if any Permit / certificate is required when Customer Service Officer forwards documents.
• Check and confirm if Cargo description is in order / accurate? – with the right HS Code
• Lodge Custom Entry (TANSAD) online on TANCIS System according to customs regulations, laws and procedures.
• Forward file back to Customer Service Officer for payment of Duties and Taxes if applicable
• Synchronize upon transfer of containers to last location stated in TANCIS System. Compare Manifest and Check if Declared and Assessed details (HS CODES, Values, Weight, packages, etc)
• Forwards file back to CS to check for TRA customs selectivity status Verification / Scanner / Release
• Meet up with customs or any official to discuss in case of any issues regarding the clearance of goods or in case of any customs issues at TRA long room, TRA wharf, Customs officer during the verification areas

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a declaration officer.
• Experience in logistics industry
• Excellent communication skills & team player
• Professional Selling and Problem solving skills
• Strongly developed persuasive skills, proven negotiation skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think and respond quickly to sales and service issues.
• Positive, competitive, confident approach and ability to work effectively in a team environment to achieve results.
