YOUR ROLE

 

Our operation based in Liverpool has integrated all ground and rail activities and established a ground and rail brokerage transactional offering that will contribute to the overall growth of the business, and we are looking for an experienced and dynamic Ground & Rail Operations Manager to join us.    

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

 

As the Operations Manager you will create, manage, and control process efficiency across the site, by coaching and supporting all members of the team ensuring the highest quality of customer service and operational productivity whilst embedding a culture of engagement and high performance. You will drive organisational change and oversee key hiring decisions and talent development programs that will contribute to the wider team.

 

You will have responsibility for the success and growth of the Liverpool operation by managing both revenue and cost elements of all functions within the business, both operational and financial. You will create and implement a strategy designed to drive business development activities in line with the UKI Business Development team, ensure all accounts are profitable and where necessary embed improvements and network extensively across the region and globe to promote service offering, develop constructive and collaborative working relationships and support in wider projects across the ground and rail team.

 

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

To be successful in this role you will be experienced within a rail, road, intermodal or shortsea planning and execution environment. You will have a good understanding of customs and transport legislation and knowledge of the European transport sector and will be operating ideally within an international carrier or transport service organisation.

 

You will be able to demonstrable experience of building and developing exceptional client relationships, possess strong people management skills with the ability to coach and develop others and be a skilled decision maker, negotiator and influencer who is able to interact and engage with colleagues at all levels.

 

Experience of cost models and budget tracking along with strong report writing and statistical investigative skills are also key requirements for this role.

 

It would be desirable, however not essential if you have a transport brokerage operator license.
