We are looking for a passionate Ethics & Compliance Manager for Eastern, Southern Africa and Zambezi region based in Nairobi, Kenya to join our Ethics & Compliance (E&C) Function, serve as the primary point of contact, responsible for contributing to the development, implementation, and continued improvement of ethics & compliance strategies and core program areas for the region, as well as ensuring strong business partnership and alignment with other functions.  Reporting to the Regional Ethics & Compliance Director Europe & IMEA, you are a true leader driving the Ethics & Compliance culture in strong partnership with the Management of the respective markets in your subregion.

 

Specific responsibilities within your scope will include: 

Strategy
•    Proactive contribution to the strategy for the assigned ethics & compliance (sub)function and the related compliance program areas.
•    Where appropriate/required suggest and implement continuous improvement to the strategy and ethics & compliance program.
Partnership with Business development
•    Foster effective partnership, proactive involvement in, and timely advise & support to business development.
Excellence in partnership & support to our customers
•    Foster and actively contribute to ensure the needs of the Company’s customers are met & addressed with excellence from an ethics & compliance perspective.

Core Compliance Program elements:
•    Accountability by delegation for a given functional or geographical scope to ensure core compliance program elements are implemented, continuously improved, and consistently matured as well as delivered with excellence:
-    Compliance risk assessment & management
-    Policies and procedures
-    Training and communications
-    Confidential reporting structure and corporate compliance investigations
-    Third party risk management
-    M&A
•    Improve continuously, initiate where needed, design, and support the establishment of standards and related processes based on global policies, all applicable laws and regulations including local industry codes.
Leadership & Continuous development
•    Actively contribute to ensure the team works as a "high performing team", being inspirational E&C professional and role model for others in the organization.
•    Ensure self, team members, and the function overall stays abreast of regulations, jurisprudence, best practices, and innovations.
 

About You
What you will bring to the team:

  • University degree in Law and/or Business (or related subject) at least at Master Level 
  • Experience (min. 5-7 years) in compliance, law or related area(s)
  • Experience implementing and monitoring a compliance program for a multinational company
  • Experience and expertise in at least two core compliance program areas and willingness to further develop two other areas: human rights, global trade compliance, speaking-up & corporate compliance investigations, data privacy, training & enablement, competition law and M&A, healthcare compliance & industry specific regulations, and conflict of interest.
  • Proficient in English, local African languages, French will be an advantage
  • We need someone who excels in listening, has strong influencing and negotiation skills, is able to roll up the sleeves to drive the implementation of agile and pragmatic solutions, and naturally communicates effectively and concisely.
